It is one hell of a landscape to be brought up in, and I won’t be shocked at all if the result is that the skills we need to engage with critique become atrophied. We have to better understand the commodification of human interaction that is happening in order to find new venues to circumvent it.

…yet this is how the bulk of online interaction takes place. Expectations for online interaction have become “5 stars all the time.” Interaction has become quantified over qualified, meaning that the hearts under your comment mean more than the actual substance of your thoughts.

…or even if younger creators are cognizant of it. Social media is just not a venue for nuanced critique. The algorithm won’t amplify it. Almost all social media are ultimately a platform to sell things, ideas as well as products. The lexicon to sustain this does not leave room for nuance…

Notice that most every time the Senate fails to pass a bill into law, more power is consolidated into the executive to enact some semblance of the failed legislation. The legislative is supposed to be a check on the executive but in reality it’s an enabler.

WelcomePAC, who released the poll, are a billionaire-funded PAC promoting and supporting conservative Democrats. So, this is basically a push to move progressives out of the party — the continuation of an ongoing intra-party squabble.
