Out of all of the professional reading I've done, Kylene Beers' work was the most helpful to my teaching practice. I refer to her often in my #educoach life as well. I've had Beers' work in my brain for 20 years. I never met her and still feel this loss acutely. RIP, brilliant colleague.
Today, we pause to honor the extraordinary life and legacy of Dr. Kylene Beers — a brilliant educator, fearless advocate, and longtime supporter of TCTELA and NCTE. Her work changed how we teach reading and how we see readers.

This essentially amounts to “focus on the sum of what you have accomplished rather than how you are performing minute to minute,” and honestly it’s … not bad.
