He was energised about the experience - we've watched a few silent movies at home, Chaplin and Keaton and so on, but seeing a masterpiece like Sunrise with live accompaniment took it to another level. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Neil!

And he did love it - thank you Neil!

Yes, all good here - wish I could be at the film tomorrow with you all!

Like it or not, Casablanca *is* a franchise - think of all the licensed uses of As Time Goes By, the phrase “play it again, Sam” (even though that’s not the actual line), Rick’s Bar, “We’ll always have Paris”, and much more. WB have made serious bank off all of that for over 80 years.

Other films with big train moments: A Hard Day’s Night, Alice in the Cities, The Darjeeling Limited, Harry Potter!

I guess the post team had all been to Roger and Don’s oyster and martini lunch - or more likely had been given a fraction of the budget and schedule necessary to get the work done

I’ve always wanted to watch this movie - must seek it out.

I remember talking at length about the Protectors to someone back in the 90s, and then realizing that I’d actually meant the Persuaders.

The view from my old office in Fitzrovia, I loved watching the way the light changed on it through the day

I too always call it the Post Office Tower - and so it shall be forever!

My father always told me that Harry Worth was on the TV the night they heard the news.

The Prestige is the only novel I have ever read that mentions my home town in Cheshire. Alas, Chris Nolan cut that bit from the movie.

what a lovely image of Carlos Ezquerra and all the characters he drew

Rather more than 25 minutes in, but still my all time favourite inter-title card

I rather liked this at the time - it struck me as an interesting blend of modern high-tech sci fi and old school 1950s space fantasy. The robot dog with a hidden agenda was very prescient

With a splendid physical performance from Doctor Who background legend Pat Gorman to boot!

It was a bit of a surprise - we weren’t very busy at that point, so it was a definite highlight in an otherwise boring week.

I only vaguely remember the project he discussed with us - I think it was a WW2 thing, maybe about the Battle of Britain?

I think he was a bit overwhelmed by the response - word went around that he was in the building and pretty much everyone came out to meet him, we had around 25 staff at the time. We had to show him stuff on film from our Steenbeck - it was that long ago
