I had a prof with an honorary Finnish degree which came with sword. I discovered it when his 12 year old found the sword mid meeting meaning there was Prof, kid with poodle, kid with sword, and me in small office. Seeing the issue, he took the sword, put it on his lap, and sent out kids. 1/2

It sounds like he isn’t using mortar which means it’s going to have bad thermal/waterproofing/insulation properties.

Adding mortar to that looks like pain to get right and avoid air holes and other weak points.
