Finally finding out just how good the Armageddon DVD commentary is. Ben Affleck is indeed an absolute hoot.

Even better, it was scheduled for a weekend when I wasn’t working - not even on the Friday night - so I was able to go to everything that I fancied without juggling shifts or worrying about start and end times.

Telescore app is giving me the football results the way I want it. Just a shame my team aren't doing the same. One for you @robertcoghill.bsky.social

Sneakers has always been my favourite Robert Redford film. He had such an easy movie star charisma, that glint in the eye. Always looked like he was having fun in this film. Alongside such a spectacular cast, which showed he was a true collaborator.

Currently programming the Inverness Film Festival. Thought I'd share four of my favourites from over the years.
If you fancy seeing the, almost, full list of titles check out the link. We've been lucky to screen some really great films.

Was in Nairn tonight to listen to the Interstellar score played on the organ by Roger Sayer. Was outstanding. Haven't watched the film since 2019 at the BFI IMAX on 70mm, brought back that wonderful screening.

Matt Dillon showing some real style. (Memories of Underdevelopment was one of the first films I programmed, in a short Cuban season, with I Am Cuba and Strawberries and Chocolate)

I'm screening The Quiet Girl tonight (Eden Court, Inverness at 7.30pm if you want to come along), and I made the mistake of watching it at 10am this morning. Will now be emotionally compromised for the rest of the day. A truly beautiful film.

Terence Stamp was one of the very best. Projecting The Limey when it came out, followed by Poor Cow, was the first time I'd really seen him. Then seeing The Hit at the Barbican 20 years ago really hit quite how great he was. A proper prince of the silver screen.

Caught the second half of St Duthus against Inverness Athletic. 0-0 but a great saved penalty by the St Duthus keeper Jonny Allan. Tain for life!

Friday 1st #Augheist 2025
It's August, which means I'll be watching a heist film each day. Going to be a mainly international month this year. I do love a good, and bad, heist film.

Watched the outstanding Defence of the Realm on an equally great 35mm print at @cineredis.bsky.social tonight. A favourite, and first time watch in the cinema. The film has one of the greatest Scottish supporting casts seen. 35mm print coming to Eden Court in November.

Finally doing a full watch of the original Miami Vice. The most impeccable vibes imaginable. Calderone's Return: Part 1 has a lot of Manhunter precursors, and it looks like Part 2 will have some go fast boats. Let's Go!

Caught the opposite of Rohmer's Le Rayon Vert tonight at Fortrose Lighthouse - a moon rise instead of a sunset. Le Rayon Orange.

I'm a big fan of the yellow/blue Swedish strip. Very satisfying colours.
