"When we look at these visioning documents, I think there's a lot of value in thinking through the energy system in terms of talking to people about how they experience energy infrastructure, how they experience their utility."

In personal news, I am on my way to England to start Oxford’s MSc in Energy Systems on Monday. The first session is on thermodynamics and I assume I’ll be learning about the magic of heat pumps from the ghost of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Otherwise, I’m totally unprepared.

I haven’t been in a math class in 19 years. I need someone to walk me through Section 2.3 “the simple equations behind the story” of Thomas-Olivier Léautier’s Imperfect Markets and Imperfect Regulation. 🔌💡

Current trio: Load & Resource Balancing; Risk, Cost & Policy Pooling; and Building, Operating & Maintaining Infrastructure.

Or maybe electric utilities function like the P-I-D controllers of the electric system where the control signal is the spot price of electricity and the actuator is infrastructure investment. 💡🔌
