The Cirencester History Festival has been hugely successful again this year and is going from strength to strength. Today I was fascinated to hear about the rivalry of Richard II and Henry IV in a compelling event with Helen Castor at the impressive Bingham Hall in Cirencester. #CreativeCotswolds

King Charles lays flowers at national memorial to LGBT+ armed forces veterans
Monument honours those whose careers were cut short by the ‘gay ban’ in place from 1967 to 2000
The king has laid flowers at the UK’s first national memorial commemorating LGBT+ armed forces and met veterans who spoke of the trauma inflicted by the military’s former “gay ban”.

Good piece on BBCPoliticsWest about National Star College students & the challenges they face for funding when they leave education. It’s an amazing place in the North Cotswolds which I’ve supported enthusiastically.

Very disappointed to hear that @swasft.bsky.social are ploughing ahead with their decision to stop co-responding work with Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue. The public really value this cooperation. With rural ambulance response times still missing target they surely need all the help they can get.

The big increase in violent hate crime across the West as featured on BBC Points West tonight is really disturbing. Politicians have a deep responsibility to stop their own polarising language.
