My answer was the same as in my recently published book: The dollar’s dominance is all but impregnable, notwithstanding challenges from rival currencies, serious concern about Trump administration policies, and mounting calls for a multipolar currency regime.

If you’re not watching World Series Game 2 on Japanese TV, you’re missing this between-inning introduction to viewers of an exotic Canadian dish in which furaido poteito are topped first with cheezu kahdo and then with gureibi sohsu. C’mon, Taguchi-san, what’s not to like?

Time will tell. Whatever happens, I humbly submit that my book has a lot to offer, not least its explanation of how $-based sanctions work and its overarching theme, that the Spider-Man adage applies to the $—with great power comes great responsibility.

Good evidence supporting my view came out this week in the Geneva Report on the World Economy. For example, the authors note that the market turmoil of April 2025, which sparked widespread dollar doomsaying, can be seen quite differently in retrospect.

Should I throw in the towel? Admit my book KING DOLLAR is way too positive about the USD’s global dominance, given what has happened in Trump’s 2nd term?

Lest there be any misunderstanding (I was queried), the accolade my book received in FP was highly gratifying!
I mentioned the praise also heaped on the books by Rogoff and Fishman to avoid excessive self-aggrandizement--although I realize self-aggrandizement is not unheard-of on this site.
