Khorasan loaves are ready for delivery to family. They took way longer than regular bread flour and so one of the regular ones overproved and is now focaccia. Will need to remember my cold weather schedule and get my homemade proofing box back in action

Olive, feta and Brie loaf and sandwich loaf for family. These are Khorasan flour sourdough and I used the stand mixer, 6 hours room temp till doubled and overnight in fridge. Khorasan is relatively low gluten and the stand mixer made the job easier.

My hippeastrum thinks it’s spring. It flowered in October last year and I found it today in full flower in its winter hangout. A chuck out bulb, it was a gift from Bunnings and it surprises me again..

Sourdough hot cross buns adapted from Helen Goh’s recipe ..some for Edie with less spice and cranberries and currants..some for Arie with Khorasan flour and very fruity..some for the rest with plenty of spice and fruit. They freeze well and are yummiest toasted

Not perfect but demolished by little party goers and big ones as well. Cake was vanilla using Khorasan flour with blueberry filling and delicious. Icing is cooked Khorasan flour frosting which held up really well outdoors on a hot, breezy morning in Frankston South. Adapted from Recipe Tin Eats!

Olive, Parmesan and herb bread, mini baguettes and one Khorasan crusty roll for tasting purposes with the rest heading off to family. Some look burnt in the pic but just deeply browned with toasted seeds on top

Two cakes travelled ok although the vegan one slipped a bit. Main cake was an Italian meringue method gluten free sponge topped with fruit and cream.Vegan one used apple puree in place of egg and plant based cream and fruit.

Black bun was really good with cheddar..fruit soaked in whisky overnight. Next year I’ll make it a few days ahead. Takes forever to cool down

Our first humid day of the new year and the sourdough loaf kept growing even in the fridge! It was so soft, I used a big bread tin to restrain it! Sprouted wheat was not the best choice for manageable dough but it tastes so good

First try of Khorasan (Kamut) flour in the sponge for trifle being made by son in law. Feels spongy so hopefully works well for our gluten intolerant and the rest of us
