John Templeton (1766-1825), a Belfast man, is often called The Father of Irish Botany.

His famous discovery Rosa x hibernica (Templeton's Rose) was found closer to home, at Holywood-it survives in the #Belfast Botanic Gardens, though not in the wild. See more detail in Alt text.

#Elmwood Hall in her splendour

To the left Elmwood Manse, now a GP practice.

Further left, now part of Uni admin, the former Staff Common Room, much loved by staff and their guests but, sure, the Uni closed it as they did the bookshop in the same building.
