All sorts: classical guitar, jazz, literature, movies, tech, politics (liberal & internationalist), multilingual.
Democracies have difficulty finding a leader who’s charismatic, competent, & capable of navigating party machinery. Past leaders would score 3/5,3/5,3/5 to have a chance.
Now:
TB 4,4,3
GB 1,4,3
DC 4,2,2
TM 1,2,2
BJ 4,0,3

DJT 5,0,5

Blair as caretaker might work.

That is a wonderful idea. A Farewell to Liberalism sendoff party. After this, it‘s Nazi, nazi all the way. All the cool people will be there. Even those who’d been shy. Every excess indulged. Coke and cake and wild dancing. Steak for the vegetarians. Foul language. The cussing! It’s going to be wild

Why shouldn’t racists or flat-earthers be heard?

Journalists have set themselves up as indirect censors and opinion shapers. Theroux’s approach is much more illuminating.

There are few statesmen who can reorient their country even over a long period. Except following crisis or revolution these changes occur only in Asia, which might be to do cohesion & the quality of leadership.

Anglophone democracies are exceptionally poorly led. We’re doomed.

Shouldn’t we interpret 2 to encompass 1, and 3 to include 2? If a person thinks 2 pints is moderation they perhaps think 1 is also.

Or, perhaps the 10-tankard chaps consider the lightweights on 4 per day to be teetotallers.

Captcha has quietly introduced an IQ element into the puzzles. Below 120 the FT isn’t for you. Above 80 , Fox prefers you not to waste their electricity.

Weird capitalisation in the headline. Ships Impossibly Appearing could be a 1980s synth duo.

Perhaps creatives will create more garbage bait that LLMs will find irresistible.

Well said.

Sometimes we need reminding that success comes to decent (not necessarily perfect) people too.

It’s called Fascist Chic.

Both sides again, I see.

Which one?

LLMs and coding assistants have revived my interest in old projects abandoned because the effort wasn’t worthwhile.

I stopped following when I realised you know shit about robbing banks, & Moll at Jake’s got no keys to no getaway wheels, & my hair’s fine as it is, & I got no need for a passport, & I shouldn’t have been standing at Penn central holding 2 cups of macchiato like a schmuck, ’cos you’re not coming.

But how to hijack attention.
1. Novelty
2. Repetition
3. Riding social wave
4. Use readymade intuitions.
5. Easy participation.
6. Relatable drama archetype. DvsGoliath, etc.
7. Speed
Not sure what I’m talking about at this point, but it’s very important & insightful. I really should be working

The missing pieces in liberal arsenal is usually not heart or brain. It is gut, or guts. The moral high ground is a dead end.

We’re simple creatures looking for indirect signals of human qualities such as boldness & tenacity. Cleverness obscures those signals, transgression amplifies them

Kick-ass liberalism is a thing. Electorates are ready for it.

I wonder whether there is a pattern of use where GenAI is not for executing these tasks. Cost, efficiency, repeatability, etc.

Instead it is used to build a personal toolkit w/ orchestration in ephemeral completion-wizard style.

Efficient tool use is considered a sign of intelligence in animals.

Feels like the wrong debate.

Western society is balanced on a fulcrum with nazism at one end and justice at the other. Surprised this is not what burns inside all journalists and commentators.
