Pride, Promenade, & Protests! A great day of community activity in Baltimore. Celebrating the diversity of our community, taking back our public spaces, and solidarity with all of those who are being hurt by our current Federal administration. #NoKings #ProtestIsPatriotic 🇺🇸🚫👑

@tbfighters.org had meetings with representatives from every state in the country today as a part of #TBHillDay and while a few months ago we would have been talking about how to wipe out TB, not it’s about restoring funding and minimizing the damage the cuts will have on health worldwide.

Grateful I got to meet with staff from the offices of @alsobrooks.senate.gov, @hoyer.house.gov, Rep. Kweisi Mfume, and @vanhollen.senate.gov‘s staff today (and briefly with @repkweisimfume.bsky.social himself) about the impact that the funding cuts are having on tuberculosis treatment. #TBHillDay

Lived in Colorado Springs during undergrad and never knew its history as a TB colony or that Dr. Quinn was based there.

Funding for USAID, NIH, CDC, and other public health programs that help address TB and other infectious diseases cost a penny or two of each $ of federal spending. These cuts don’t help solve the deficit, they put us and the world in a much dangerous situation. Talk to your elected officials.

TB is a curable disease (and has been for decades) but it kills more than 1.25 million people each year. The cuts to TB funding will result in more drug-resistant TB, more death and misery, around the world and here in the US. We have the power to end this disease and have chosen not to.

Thanks to @wearetb.bsky.social @partnersinhealth.bsky.social @resultsorg.bsky.social @tbfighters.org and so many more for leading the training and to @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social for bringing me and so many others into this movement with his book #EverythingIsTuberculosis and his other work.

Spent this afternoon at GWU learning more about Tuberculosis to be an effective advocate when meeting with staff for my Congressional representatives tomorrow. The federal funding cuts to domestic and international public health, and particularly TB, are having devastating effects. #TBHillDay

Grateful to see so many friends out at protests in Baltimore, D.C., Denver, and around the country. More things going wrong than could fit on our sign but it’s essential to speak out in multiple ways (demonstrations, letters, calls, etc.). #HandsOff

Loved hearing @elaineweissauthor.bsky.social speak about her new book “Spell Freedom” at the Pratt Library with #BlackGirlsVote last night. Stunned her talk at the Carter Library was cancelled. Clearly need to bring Citizenship Schools back. www.theatlantic.com/books/archiv... elaineweiss.com

I’d recommend more info on the “Unmarked Crosswalks” section saying that drivers are required to stop or yield to people crossing any place a sidewalk extends across the street. This image from @hsrcinfo.bsky.social is more helpful than the one you have from www.meaforensic.com/jaywalking/.

Tuberculosis has been killing people for thousands of years, around 1.25 million worldwide each year. We’ve had the ability to cure TB for decades, but fail to eradicate it because the testing and treatments are expensive (profits over people). @tbfighters.org @partnersinhealth.bsky.social 7/7

I was inspired to read “The Saint of Bright Doors” after a character in @kevinhearne.bsky.social’s latest book (“Candle and Crow”) read it. It is an amazing novel of fantasy and magical realism, different than anything else I’ve ever read. I’m now reading “Phantom Plague” about tuberculosis and… 1/7

Thrilled the Enoch Pratt Library has Everything Is Tuberculosis by @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social now in their @libbyapp.bsky.social. I’m looking forward to getting my preordered signed copy, but it’s SO much easier to read when you always have the book with you, and this is an important book.

This will be the first time in a couple decades that I haven’t attended the Transportation Research Board’s Annual Meeting. But I’m going to be coming down some of the evenings and hope to connect with friends in town. Also looking forward to all the #TRB multimodal commentary on @bsky.app #TRBAM
