The less you know about it going in the better, but don't stop watching during the first 30 minutes. It pays off.

Retro Radio is another set that scratched a similar itch for me. It lacks the Game Boy nostalgia, but in terms of building experience and satisfying play features it's very good.

It's so, so good. The way they get all the buttons to articulate in a way reminiscent of the real hardware is inspired. Especially the D-pad!

Could you avoid the subjective "to your left/right" framing entirely and just say clockwise? It seems most board games do that and it works fine.
October 6, 2025 at 8:28 PM
true. Clockwise and down the list work objectively, if players are referencing some external list or looking across the table at other players, but clockwise as "to your left" is a nice subjective shorthand that doesn't work for the list.

I mean, what is a list if not just a horizontally squished clock face with hours 7-11 omitted?

🔃Down the list and then back up to the top still has a "clockwise" feel to me.

Is this associated with Seattle Indies or timed to coincide with SLICE?

Which one are you?

Tangential question-- have you played Zombies, Run!? Seems like it would be up your alley.

Ahh, so that's what the jackhammer is for! Haven't crafted it yet. The ballroom is such a mixed bag for my current level of progress.

It is! And the berry one she crocheted as her first crochet project (she knits and is generally a fiber arts badass). I bet you two would hit it off-- she's also into escape rooms and the MIT puzzle hunt, in addition to tons of grandma hobbies.

I didn't know this was a thing until my partner got one this year and has been making costumes for it.

I want to try Going for Broke!

Love that wacky game. Also I want to work on a project with a need for infinite cute little items on a grid again. So satisfying.

Yeah those writeups sound cool. I'm not sure how well the game would fit into my life though. 😅
June 24, 2025 at 4:54 PM
It sounds wild. Have you played it?
