Spider watch 2025: I found a cross orb weaver near my front entryway this morning. Can my little friend stay safely or will the 50% of my household that thinks spiders are scary notice my free pest control friend and interfere? More importantly, will I remember to follow up?

Maybe I’m confused but it seems like tariffs would be better at promoting the purchase of US made goods if we had the manufacturing infrastructure first.

We get a lot of spiders at my house. These are cross orb weavers, or Araneus diadematus. They’re totally harmless (unless you’re insect prey) and make beautiful webs. The colors can range from light tan to dark brown but all have a white cross shape on their back.

I saw a bumper sticker that said “Make Portland Normal” and idk, aren’t there enough bastions of normalcy in the US? Shouldn’t we strive to #KeepPortlandWeird?

I feel like a large part of dog training is toddler proofing your home. #dogs
