I've felt since Playtest that they simplified the math from 1e not to "streamline", but for the numbers to better represent the narrative and for more things to happen during combat to talk about. Idk if many folks on Reddit realize that.

Pathfinder Reddit bugs me because none of them seem to build on theme over optimization (the thread makers anyway) and all anyone every talks about is numbers. TTRPGs are cool combat games, yes, but they're also story engines. But people barely ever tell stories.

Thanks much! Trying to get back into the groove. Those are sick alternate versions!

I have a D&D character in which I just chose to have longevity be a pure-blooded elf thing (and thus somewhat rare). He's a Wizard who has a long line of half-siblings who were famous combat masters and adventurers. He's the black sheep as a wizard. A fun character to play.

Oh this is such a sick idea.

Since I run a modern game for some friends, I incorporate a lot of SF2E's mechanics into our years old campaign. I had a player cast doomscroll on a wizard using her familiar to distract him to steal a spell scroll from him. It was so devious and I loved the implementation. I love this system.
