To be fair, I would totally consider that leasing office. They would probably be chill about me hanging things on the wall compared to other places.

Assuming we fix *gestures broadly* how long do you think it takes to rebuild the DOJ/Attorneys offices/other justice apparatuses that have had large numbers of people leave over things like this?

So which Fox News host will be the next chair

To be fair protein pancakes are a delicious option when you don't want to be hungry again in a few hours.

Bringing a murder charge is the only way to ensure Americans don't take justice in their own hands.

Is this actually confirmed to be what happened? Seems odd to have your kid with you for civil disobedience and the reports that she was just trying to pull out after picking up her kid seem more likely even if she had done some civil disobedience earlier.

Trying so hard to get that movie moment where one person's speech makes everyone realize they were both wrong and being manipulated by the real enemy without realizing that one side not wanting to be murdered isn't the same

I just am careful not to let different metals touch in the dishwasher and it's fine. I even wash my cast iron in there and nothing bad happens.

Isn't breaking up the MMR shot the original Wakefield conspiracy?

I'll even throw in a park bench saying they won capitalism at a national park of their choice and a lifetime pass to see it.

Pretty sure we all entered the bad place in like 2013. (Or that was just the day I got old enough to stop being optimistic about the future)

Free to user college in exchange for a 2 percentage point higher tax bracket or so for life seems fair. Control prices by having a set amount the gov pays per student and state schools can't charge more. Private schools can get same stipend then need to compete if they want to charge more.

Yep. Everyone forgets that growing up you know one kid that was maimed in a farm accident, another family that wasn't paying enough attention and lost a kid in an accident, and a final family that lost their dad in a grain bin accident.

Suffering Olympics or Oppression Olympics. It largely comes from the mistake that if privilege is bad misfortune is good. Obviously whoever is worst off is the best person.

The state of Wisconsin refuses to accommodate my religious exemption to speed limits while permitting emergency personnel to continue speed whenever they deem necessary. Both are equally valid exemptions to public safety and should be accommodated.

Not saying its good policy but IME grading bad work takes way longer than average work. Having a trapdoor for students that refuse to even meet a well defined requirement so you can grade it faster without justifying everything is useful. If they want to improve it you can work with them after.

To me it made no sense to bail out SVB. Insurance they were paying the fed was calculated based on the expected limit so paying more risks going insolvent. It sets precedent for it which means people don't spread out money increasing risk too. There were options for high value accounts they ignored.

I know it's not important, but 7 holes is less than the average number of holes most people have in their body before being shot, so he isn't even claiming to be a good shot.

Yeah, I am still salty that we designed infrastructure to be resilient to nuclear attack and then decided to route everything through aws-east-1 anyway lol.

I used to have a site that lost Internet for an hour every time the train went past though.

My advisor would light every tree outside and had figurines and candle powered spinning tree display for every surface. It took 48 tea lights to power it one night. He started in November, finished setup on new years, and took it all down over Lent.

The conclusion of the conversation was they should keep deadlines for homework and such, but only to the extent that it facilitated their job grading (grading every assignment from a student on the last day is not viable) and less so as a teaching tool.
November 17, 2025 at 4:58 AM
And frankly very few knowledge jobs are.
I was having a conversation with some professors about college vs my job and pointed out that since college a tiny fraction of my deadlines were real. Most are just for planning purposes and get moved if needed.

I mean, the asshole tax on that job has got to be insane no matter who is quoting it.

We just fired someone the other week, and while strike 3 was infact them screwing up something technical, the first 2 strikes were them horribly failing to work well with others, and their lack of emotional intelligence in dealing with the mistake was what make a mistake job terminating.
