Remember to tell people that things have NOT DEESCALATED. Pulling 700 agents means there's 2,300 agents on our streets, terrorizing us and kidnapping our neighbors.

like its way easier to get involved in city govt than state/federal, and it could still be shitty in someways but alot more 'equitable'. like if discord was like, still centralized but alot smaller, way more democratic and listened to users more lol maybe that would be enough lol idk

yeah, when youre operating on "tighter margins" in some sense, i think it would be easier for things to go wrong.

ig i have alot of thoughts and dont fully have a stance but one thing my friend talks abt is "municipalism" where govt is centralized but only in a "local" area, like in a city.

but idk lol maybe change is just a slow process...

i think part of whats happening though is people are realizing the downsides to centralization and so that is probably hopefully pushing people to make different decisions, in the like near-ish future (hopefully) (myself included)

weighing the switch against "how much do i have to sacrifice"

the tools themselves need to be easy enough for people to learn quickly. like theres alot of /actual/ benefits to centralization that need to be reinvented and replaced for decentralization to really work. and unless you do that people are always going to be

yeah. i think also, with centralized systems you can have a small group of specialists set something up and make it easy for "normal people" to get plugged into. with decentralized systems, knowledge needs to be more spread out, there need to be more specialists around or

bsky users probably generally dont care abt atproto or know what it is, they like that this place doesnt have an algorithm and nazis

like i think sometimes the "better software option" just doesnt work socially... like the mastodon problem. its like "normies" are going to build an app thats worse software but a better fit socially where "nerds" would do the opposite.

i think the problem is that most users are looking for things that alternative platforms made by ppl more plugged into tech issues like wont be able to provide.

Anyway do not, under any circumstances, for any reason, give your ID to a tech company or one of their subcontractors
