less is more...more or less
No exaggeration to say that Hagrid of Harry Potter fame could've been based on our Faculty Professor, the archetypal wild-looking bohemian Scotsman who we were all in awe/fear of...just as every Professor/Undergraduate relationship should be.

I doubt it's solely direct taxation per person, rather it will also include indirect taxation e.g. when a person spends money on a product/service run by another person/company e.g. rent, food shopping, using a plumber, etc, that other person/company's tax liability increases.

''...and threatens the budget itself?''

I know you didn't mean this, but it raises a fourth question.

Should the Budget be scrapped as an event, as it's clearly become just another part of the ever increasingly performative newstainment cycle?

Indeed, swapping one form of 'Chelsea Tractor' for another.

Before the Mcr derby RA was asked how he'd prepped the squad, and he replied with a total lack of self-awareness saying because Pep plays various systems they had to spend a lot of time going thru each possible formation. I thought then, if the penny hasn't dropped it never will!

Fair play Peter, better team won and importantly Moyes adapted to the sending off. I don't want Amorim to fail because it means Utd failing, but can't see us having any meaningful success with his stubbornness.

💯 We gained no advantage with his refusal to adapt after the sending off. Bad enough having 3 CBs marking 1 striker v 11 men, but v 10 it's ridiculous, esp when none of them can play forward, Bruno had to keep dropping back to receive the ball.

I would've preferred a draw but as Eze is in my fantasy team I'm not complaining 😊
Always nice to see Leeds come a cropper 😊

Indeed, I would always send books for their children's birthdays via AmazonUK and it was noticeable how much shipping costs increased post-Brexit.
Last year though I negated them by buying directly from the Amazon site of where they lived. I had to create a new account but otherwise seamless.

You did well to breach the Brexit blockade.
I've tried twice sending friends in EU Xmas goodies to remind them of Blighty (mince pies, shortbread etc), but despite declaring in full, paying req'd taxes & postage, both bounced back from EU Customs late Jan.
On the plus side, I scoffed them 😋

Have you ever visited Stockwell Bus Garage?
Not a Brutalist building in the purist sense, but an impressive concrete structure nonetheless which at the time of construction was the longest clear span in Europe.
It's also been celebrated in retro-style print...

Stunning retro print celebrates the modernist architecture of Stockwell Bus garage
When it opened in April 1952, Stockwell Bus Garage boasted the largest unsupported area under one roof in Europe, with its 393ft long roof providing 73,350sq ft of parking space for up to 200 buses…

I like to think...megalomaniac narcissists aside...that we're all pacifists at heart in that no one *wants* to go to war, but when faced with such an existential threat such as Fascism, it's hard to understand why someone wouldn't want to fight back against that.
Great composer though!

I seem to recall that his pacifism may have been a factor what with the US not officially at war at the time?
