Definitely agree with that. I tried to be as nuanced as I could, but also consider how the work would sound from the point of view of someone that hasn't experienced it. I feel like I struck a good balance - hopefully lol.

That's true. When currency is involved you have those fighting to survive and those fighting for avarice and both are extremely dangerous in their own way.

Absolutely, it would be foolish to say they trend wholly good or evil. Individuals maybe, but the profession itself is completely neutral.

Not only are mercenaries not common where he's from, but money either. They don't use it, so certain jobs that may be common to use just don't exist.
Theoretically you might have a couple people sell their ability to fight to bargain their way into a village, but it wouldn't be normal.
