There's no inventory for tools in apps. The only tool is a click. I get that design in the 90's when GUIs were new. A click is your finger. But now with a generation that grew up on Minecraft, maybe they'd grok that your finger can be any tool in the digital world.

To be fair, if a bunch of nazis come to your public square with baseball batts, knives, or even guns, you can't crowd them out. It's not only a matter of "mass" but also depends on "velocity", e.g how much violence each party is willing to bear and inflict.

An ideology that believes all people are created equal with innate worth and a human right to a safe and decent living creates very different infrastructure than an ideology that does not.

As you said, it's surprisingly tricky to get decentralised financial systems right, that's basically what blockchain/crypto has been trying to do for years and it's still barely usable for casual payments.
