Lucky! My yard is mostly clay. But there are a few spots that are gritty and sandy.

These were small plugs planted last fall in an area of our yard that’s surrounded by trees and left for the wildlife. We did have to start having the grass around this mowed for now to control buckthorn and lemon balm spread.

Big bluestem and switch grasses are growing up and we’ll soon have blooms on the nodding wild onion, boneset, monarda and Joe pye weed. Blue vervain is taking its time but is very tall.

I on the other hand, already get hot faster because of the energy used to get around with my physical disability. So a water-wise, low maintenance garden is essential!

And it did get nibbled on last year by either rabbits or woodchucks but they haven’t touched it this year 🤷🏻‍♀️. Hope that helps!

And it did get nibbled on last year by rabbits or possibly woodchucks but they decided not to eat it this year 🤷🏻‍♀️. Hope that helps! It only bloomed densely like this in the areas with the most sun.

I have this sedum planted around my front and back yard in partially shady spots. This particular spot gets quite a bit of afternoon sun but has some grasses around it that shade it a bit. The soil is pretty nutrient rich but drains well. This is just one of the clumps.

I can’t wait to see the fluffy cloud-like white blooms and the pollinator party they will bring.

I have to slide down the hill and use crutches at the bottom to get to this spot but I can read the markers and see the plants with binoculars from up top 🩼👩🏻‍🦽‍➡️!

It’s exceeded my expectations which were - it’s worth a try to plant a meadow in the middle of our deer and rabbit heavy natural area! The cardboard will be a path of some sort. The only real regrowth we’re seeing from b4 when we just let it grow are wild violets 😍. So they’ll be the groundcover.
