I genuinely feel like I'm living in a different dimension sometimes. This has absolutely nothing to do with being Jewish, when clubs have racist, violent fans they sometimes get banned from games - it doesn't happen enough frankly.

One journalist at a press conference, I beg, just ask him why does the prime minister want violent ethno supremacist islamophobic thugs on the streets of a city with a high Muslim population? Why is he putting the needs of Israelis above his own citizens?

So I've already decided to take my money elsewhere but I'll respond to this anyway.
I'm not doing anything on the behalf of anyone, it was my own thoughts and negotiating my hope in building something new and what that could achieve Vs the worries that the organisation was doomed to be regressive

I mean, I joined already and at the time did not know any of this about the transphobia and had no idea who Ruth serwotka was. That sucks. If you look elsewhere in this sparkling thread there's a discussion where someone else already convinced me to leave.

No I get that but it's not that Your Party was explicitly anti trans tho? The confusion has arisen because some of the independent MPs involved have made some anti-trans statements right? I guess my point was once the membership are in charge you can discount those people, primary them and move on?

So the whole point of your party was supposed to be it was democracy through and through so yeah you probably should be voting on pretty much everything even the fundamental stuff, even if it would be (you would hope) close to a 100% in favour question. Get it feels a bit gross tho.

The 20k members isn't but it would have grown had all this not kicked off... It still might. You are probably right. I'll wait and see a few weeks as I think they've taken my money for this month anyway (and there's no cancel sub button far as I can see) and I'll work out what to do from there.

It just sucks because without Corbyn you will not get that automatic mass membership thing and it just makes the whole thing harder and we can't afford to screw this up. I dunno if I can see Zach turning the greens into that mass movement party but if it's the only game in town then that's that.

That's all totally fair. In my head the "party" doesn't actually exist right now until the membership starts getting involved at which point we collectively decide we aren't ok with bigotry or we don't and I walk. The greens headed by Zach are but it's not been so cut and dried in the past right?

My plan is to stick with it, do my bit in trying to shape it into a place trans folks can feel safe and then leave if that's not feasible. It's super shit that we have to start having to win back people because of this stuff tho even before the democracy button gets turned on.

Yeah 100% it hasn't been good, if they make good on the democratic element however we can clear out that rot. Totally understand people writing them off at this point though for this reason. It must be so fucking tiring, I'm just sorry.

I feel like zarah might have just gone a bit rogue but also potentially for the right reasons. It was always gonna be messy starting something from scratch like this and trying to make it democratic because wtf do you do before you have a portal, a conference or some other way to poll you members?

For my part I'm joining and will push as hard as I physically can to get it engraved in the side of the thing that bigots can find another party, there's plenty of them. Zarah has said as much too in her sit down with pod save. That is if the whole thing doesn't succumb to stupid factionalism smfh.

I absolutely empathise with this position and it is incredibly frustrating that anyone transphobic is involved... However could this be because they don't wanna make too many definitive statements because there's not been a conference yet? Perfectly reasonable to wait to join in that basis tho.

I'm so done with this ultra expensive ultra high definition series... but you only get 8 episodes. Trade off isn't worth it for shows like Dr who or star trek, the special effects aren't even that good. Give me time to love a character. 16 episodes for Ncuti Gatwa Jesus Christ.
