Maybe that's the plan. Venture capital has their grubby paws in practically every industry that's essential to life in America. Why not medicine too?

What these Democrats [fail to recognize or] hope that Americans won't notice:
They are punting the vote until "sometime in December." Will Congress enact a law before open enrollment ends? Highly unlikely. That means everyone is already locked into hyper-inflated premiums for 2026.

And when might they vote on and enact this? Right after open enrollment ends? What good is a vote at that point?
What a clever trap the GOP set up.

We need to primary every single member of Congress out of their jobs if they vote to reopen government without first extending ACA subsidies. GOP promises are worthless. They repeatedly prove themselves untrustworthy.
Now Democrats are staking millions of American lives on trusting the GOP. What?

Then we all need to mail paper returns so they can be processed by humans.

Also, I'm really glad you only have a secondhand understanding of this!

I agree wholeheartedly. I educate people every chance I get. I get empathy, sympathy, and sometimes eye-rolling, but I have yet to convince anyone that self-protection (masking) is crucial.

I don't think it's possible for anyone to really understand this unless they have it. I certainly wouldn't have. Trying to explain it to people exasperates (and exhausts) me. I gave up on that, at least until I can get it into book form.

I agree, but Republican are afraid of facts, the elected ones and their voters.

I'm not sure about her age, but all three of my sons can read and refold paper maps. They're 36, 32, and 26.

I have friends and family members who bought into the "hoax" narrative. They have since had strokes, developed Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, heart disease of every description, and a litany of other health issues. They fail to make a connection to COVID, won't believe it, and continue to take risks.

I hope every Republican believes him, because Americans have clearly demonstrated that Trump's policies are the reason for the shift. May they all follow him off the cliff!

I wish people understood the horrors of living with long COVID. Nobody would volunteer for this who truly understands how it affects your entire life. Nobody would volunteer to live in a perpetual torture chamber.

Thune conveniently failed to mention the eat-now/die-later dichotomy of the Republican-created hunger crisis. "Be sure not to eat any salmonella for Christmas. If you do, good luck affording treatment, because we made insurance unaffordable in 2026. Gotcha again, low-information voters!"

"Core" inflation doesn't include the food and energy sectors of the economy, which affect 100% of the population and continue to rise. Mike Johnson needs to learn to read the room. Deception doesn't fill empty bellies.
