I’ll start …!

Had the honour of taking my wee one at ~7 months to the @britsocimm.bsky.social congress in Liverpool. Co-carer in tow, complete with funding from a BSI Carers Grant (although partner not pictured) ❤️❤️

Big shout out to one of our PhD students Steph who has presented at her first *proper* national conference - showcasing her work on the #NKcell regulation of T cells in #liver cancer.

Well done Steph!

Pre Christmas we had lots of fun as a lab painting pottery, catching up and spending time together our the lab. We’ve now picked up all the masterpieces …. Maybe some of us have alternative careers elsewhere, others maybe not! 🤣

Fantastic to get the conversation started at the FLF Dev Network event on “inclusive leadership”

We (the collective we) need to accelerate implementation of policy change to improve #researchculture for all (inc carers)…“it might not always work, but we have to at least try”

A total (momentary) deviation from science posting, but …
Not sure who needs to see this but the stress of #ElfOnTheShelf is real for those of us less creative, time poor academics!! Share widely!!

George and Beth are our Postdocs!

George - investigating the bidirectional communication between resident T cells and the underlying stroma of the liver

Beth - our resident microscope whizz looking at how T cells interact with (and shaped by) myeloid cells
November 13, 2024 at 6:11 PM
Dani & Steph are our PhD students

Dani - trying to understand the metabolic “preferences” of resident T cells

Steph - working to uncover how NK cells impact anti tumour immunity in primary liver cancer

We’ve had a load of new followers on here in the last 2 weeks 😊🙌😊
So an introduction…

We are the Pallett lab - a fantastic, energetic & talented group of researchers interested in how tissue resident immune cells adapt to survive & function in the human liver

Along with 2 other Lauras we’ve been doing some advocacy work behind the scenes in an attempt to improve equity for carers (eg of a child, another adult, partner) trying to balance the juggle of academic travel.

It’s great to be in Cape Town for such a momentous #IUIS23 (first time it’s been held in Africa 😊) and to have the opportunity to share a small piece of our work and to extend our network outside the UK

Looking for a technician job? Love immunology? Alan Zhuang is doing some cool work manipulating circadian rhythms to impact tissue-resident immunity & how this can used in HBV immunotherapy 🤩

Based at the IIT, UCL (London) and you’d be working alongside us! 👌🏼
