Having said that, I still feel like there were some unanswered questions from the wider world as a whole, and I wanted to know more about the developing powers etc. I guess that means I might have to read the last trilogy in this world.... if it's as good as this duology that won't be a problem....

The character work is top tier. We had multilayered individuals who weren't your standard "morally good"/ can do no wrong YA characters. These characters felt more real, even though some of them had magic. The relationships were amazing and I'll miss being in their company.

She who became the Sun.... Although I haven't finished it yet, but I love it ☺️

The last third of the book finally picked up the pace, offering exciting moments and some plot progression. I'll likely continue the series, as the reviews for the next book are more positive. However, as a whole, *Empire of Silence* didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

That said, the book kept me reading because of the promise of something greater. The world-building was impressive, with rich details and an expansive scope that kept me intrigued. I enjoyed the exploration of the history, language, and the hints at a potential prophecy or alien religion.

This is a prequel that feels like a sprawling, overly long, and meandering origin story. There were moments when I felt the narrative dragged on unnecessarily, with certain characters lacking purpose and the plot feeling like it was spinning its wheels. Honestly, I found myself bored for much of it.

It has been my top series this year. Beautifully written and such an amazing character story

I haven't read that one yet. I read The Ninth House a few years ago and didn't love it. But it's one of the only genre books on there. Maybe I'll try it.

It was brilliant. You feel like you know everyone in this community so well. It's heartbreaking too!
