LOL I had no idea about that last one. I also like the kite example from one of your previous posts. But yeah it is really interesting the more subtle differences, like the inch uzum es vs inch guzes example. I wonder when and how these small drifts appeared in the language.

Is it hard to understand eastern because of the differences in the consonants or is it more that we use a lot of loanwords from Russian and/or Farsi?

To clarify, he was in the Soviet military at the time. But yeah my mom's side used to have regular dinners with an Azeri family. She still says that they're kinder than most Armenians she's met, she's never seen an Azeri kick a dog or put their thumb on a scale.

Might not be a perfect comparison but both my parents only had good experiences with Azeris prior to the first war. When my dad was in the military and doing some bullshit that was going to get him in trouble, some local Azeris hid him in their home. The genocidal brainworms really do travel fast.

It's such a frustrating reduction and exclusionary mindset. Idk the lingering attitudes of a lot of hayastancis about these things is so close-minded when it comes to land, language, and especially the coexistence between Armenians and Turks that was a key part of our history.

Also the last section you wrote is such an important message. It's critical that we understand these places in Turkey not simply as places where Armenians died but also as places where they lived. Those are the ancestral homelands of millions of Armenians, we can't abandon the spirit of those places

Potentially true, but they are nuking the economy and the environment to create data centers for the lying machine. The data centers that do get built will address a demand that largely doesn't exist, we don't need that much machine learning compute (at least not yet).
