No sound stripe!

(Last summer, The Third Man museum in Vienna).

The one on the left above very nearly happened yesterday but we felt like spending longer on the walk pictured below.

Open brackets. Tried to take the least inspiring views I could. Close brackets.

In relation to @davidgunkel.bsky.social's 'Différance engine: large language models & poststructuralism' link.springer.com/article/10.1... and pabloredux.wordpress.com/2014/10/09/a... "We can train our bodies to do as they’re told, but oddly, if we do it too well, they stop asking us what to do."

This kind of thing...

Ooh, this Koppel article is interesting!
"To Gadamer, a work of art has the nature of a very complex game. We play games, of course, for recreation – they are not “real,” .... one becomes a part of the self-enclosed world created by that game." (I would dispute the not-real and the self-enclosed.)

Authors' First Impressions of Jane Austen: www.theguardian.com/books/2025/m...

Am browsing Marghanita Laski's 'Jane Austen and her World', supposedly for clues to the author's (ML's) reading of other authors (JA), but am getting distracted by wondering if I have Emma in the loft, owned but unread?

@svennyholm.bsky.social Searching back on Twitter (to remember the term Technical Debt, @ruthmalan.bsky.social), I stumbled upon this. I've been worrying away since your paper was in draft! @davidgunkel.bsky.social @joshgellers.bsky.social Expect full response by... 2029? @digitaldang.bsky.social 🤣

But just sticking with the "fight" bit at the end meant being more longwinded to get from fight to walk... "I love Pennsylvania Avenue".

@daimoon.bsky.social, as I recall, put me onto the kayfabing of US politics, @digitaldang.bsky.social but there's an increasing number of pieces on the subject.

Now Trump is busy taunting the BBC with the perfection of his lie- (and hate-) filled speech at the Ellipse.
November 10, 2025 at 8:37 PM
Here's a transcript of the speech - it's accurate enough: www.npr.org/2021/02/10/9... Here's how Trump concludes. As the Telegraph unintentionally confirmed, the only reference to behaving "peacefully" was about 50 minutes earlier. I'm sure they all remembered that, rather than to fight, to be bold!

Another day, up river. Greyer-browner. A muddier shade of pale.
November 7, 2025 at 5:30 PM
To be honest, this was a major factor. Better views are available.

Oh, it's brightening up.

What about my non-functionals? They need quality time too.
November 5, 2025 at 10:57 AM
Weeell...

The shops are round the corner from where I once used to work so I've already seen more than enough of them. Didn't last long in there, retreated for coffee. Will probably buy from Garmin online - more strap choice.

Much prefer your travelogue!
November 4, 2025 at 12:20 PM
Dislikeable, in the old-fashioned way...
October 28, 2025 at 9:58 PM
At least this one is back in the shops. Have to do for now. @davidgunkel.bsky.social

Yes, I was looking forward to the book but the reviews put me off. It was something I wanted to think further about - we all have those anecdotes! (Other leftovers from the time www.frontiersin.org/journals/psy... and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Systema...) MMO's at the edge and into the grey area beyond.

And further still, in the ALT text!

You were lucky - I was born into a monochrome world.

We're all ears! @davidgunkel.bsky.social Northern Monk 'Dark Matter' Imperial Stout 8.4%, brewed in collaboration with Wiper & True. First sip was good. Somerset crunchy vintage Cheddar and rosemary crackers.

Weeding out cross-posted book reviews, I noticed an oddly phrased one on Goodreads that referred to multiple storylines - which simply don't occur in this novel. I suspected a fake account and sure enough... @digitaldang.bsky.social @davidgunkel.bsky.social Random ratings so that's not the game.

Watching the documentary, was delighted to see this - I hadn't realised they started performing at The Railway (a picture of which spreads across the gatefold of Meaty, Beaty Big & Bouncy) before they were The Who.
