Interesting, but seems like quite the exotic solution

The search itself looks for 'heavy stable charged particles' which would move through detector so slowly that their signals don't show up we normally expect (in a diff bunch crossing)

Using this new data stream gives access to this potential signal which would otherwise be lost!

to the SM, thereby also extending them to include the
fermion sector. We have shown that all SM interactions
are invariant under the appropriate goofy transformations, while the Higgs-mass term is forbidden."

More work to be on the uncertainties but I think this is actually quite practical / applicable to many analyses at the LHC!
