Thank you, Áine!! Indeed, I also have a hard time photographing famous spots, and I actively try to avoid the 'obvious photo'. For this, I used a tele lens while staying relatively close to the structure. This created a slight compression effect. Galle is still a wonderful place and you will love it

Many thanks! I must admit that it was accidental as I wanted to capture the flames produced by the performer, but instead captures the ashes at the end.

Great excuse for a trip back! Just a warning, it may have changed drastically in this timespan, but it is still a beautiful island.

It is! I was speaking more about it with local people. It is also a bit complicated and nuanced issue. These villages have been breeding elephants for work generationally. Without this, both elephants and villagers have no way to feed themselves. It will require some careful thinking to address.
