There’s some positional flexibility for Triantos and really, really good bat-to-ball skills + prospect pedigree. I think that’s just about all it came down to!

Triantos would be a much worse option than Shaw. Defensively, Triantos hasn’t played third recently and offensively, there is very little upside. McNeil hasn’t started a game there in 5 years but it wouldn’t take much to acquire him.
