It did, yes. I did a paper on the 1918–1920 flu pandemic in a history of medicine class. It got rolled into the trauma of WWI and both weren't spoken of by survivors. Masks were common during and then dropped afterwards. That paper is why I knew we were in for 2yrs of an acute phase, not 2 weeks
