Momentum is building: over 80 countries spoke up for a transition away from fossil fuels, and the COP president will drive forward a new global roadmap for fossil fuel phase-out. Next April, Colombia will host the first conference for fossil fuel phase-out. Renewables are surging.

But hope was everywhere in Belém. At the Global Climate March, we felt vibrant energy, creativity, and solidarity. 89% of people worldwide want stronger climate action, and we felt that truth in the streets.

The final COP outcome was a tug at the heart. No mention of fossil fuels, even though science is clear we must phase them out. Our children deserve better.

We went to COP30 with open hearts to speak up for the children we love - a generation living a crisis they did not cause. We pushed for a world beyond coal, oil, and gas. A world powered by clean energy. A world where forests stand strong and nature flourishes.

As #COP30 ends, Catarina Nefertari asks: “Where will children play now? Climate change doesn’t wait for conferences. It’s already inside homes, bodies, and routines — in the smoke that fills children’s lungs, and in rivers that carry sewage instead of life.”

Inside the #GlobalEthicalStocktakePavilion, children’s butterflies flutter as messages of care and urgency.
Created by young hands, these banners remind leaders that a livable future must be built with the voices of the youngest among us.

It's Children & Youth Day at #COP30.
Each thematic day of the COP is designed to respond to the outcomes of the Global Stocktake.

Today, the focus turns to the rights, needs, and perspectives of children - placing intergenerational equity at the center of climate action.

This illustration - inspired by our fellows - reminds us what the #COP30 negotiations must protect. We need clean air, unpolluted rivers, renewable energy, strong communities, and a liveable future for all children. Let’s choose wisely. ✨
