We had some family friends that were the victims of California’s old tracking system. Certain last names were automatically tracked to the vo/tech system and out of the universities. An unbelievable amount of wasted potential for generations

Nobody can stop you from having a good dinner on any day you wish

The Fourth of July is nice but Thanksgiving happens during the school year and calls an abrupt halt to whatever life you’re living to remind you very clearly that you’re in America.

As a civil (and not religious) holiday, Thanksgiving opens the door to a lot of new Americans to be able to participate in a broader America in their own way. No other public holiday comes close to the assimilating force of Thanksgiving

Everyone in the green room thought dank should have been accepted here. Harrison challenged it at the break and he said they denied its use for either of the two parts of the clue. I still disagree

probably one of my favorite thanksgivings ever was when it was just me and my brother--he had been working and I cooked dinner and we ate together and then watched The Blues Brothers. It was glorious.

All hyperlocal, all weird stuff.

If I came into a bunch of money I’d buy a TV transmitter and go buck wild like Weird Al on UHF. I’d broadcast nothing but, like, local high school sports and Wheel of Fish. I’d hire someone in a cool mascot costume to give out free antennas. Viral social media hits about antenna use. Etc
