Game dev. Made Bad North and Townscaper.
The whole area looks like this. Unfortunately the drawers to the right can't be used right now bacause our baby keeps rummaging through and emptying them

I made a cute lil' mailbox for our new home

As some suggested, I got myself an empty refillable pen to fill up with the same paint. Makes cleaning up lines a lot easier. I'll see if I can find one with a bigger container and more flow, as the paint is quite viscous. But all in all, it feels like I've got a good workflow on my hands.

My biggest test thus far. This time on an easel, to try painting upright. I feel like I spend a lot of time cleaning up egdes. I've got a decent steady hand, but the paint lives it's own inconsistent life on the brush tip. Maybe I should get a marker pen or something for final edge cleanup?

A scrap wood test zebra. Still with the duller color palette though.

Test painting on a piece of scrap wood. It's the right paint brand, but much duller colors than I'm going for (as that's what they had pre-mixed in small sample cans). I think with these little intentional gaps between the fields I can get away without careful masking

Really happy with this zebra I'm gonna weave in somewhere

More style exploration. Should feel orderly yet whimsical. Abstract yet concrete. Symmetries should be established and broken. There should be faces everywhere.

Gonna take a break from game dev to do some renovations in our new home. Here's a rough first sketch for the entrance hall. I've not done much physical painting before, and definitely nothing near this scale. Gonna be a fun steep learning curve

A greeting card my mom requested for whatever weird functions they attend now that they're retired

Ok yeah the source gen approach might actually not be too bad. Not at all battle tested yet, but the tree generation was fun. It takes functions called stuff like "State_Alive_Setup_Root" and makes a state called Alive descended from a state called Root. And it generates nice nested update functions

Made some octahedral impostors for these trees. Might seem like overkill for such a stylized look, but they're a lot more stable when rotating the camera than all other billboard solutions I've tried, which is kinda important.

Also: Sweet, bluesky can do gifs now!
