The workshop was immensely beneficial to our work in the @EUKI_Climate project supporting the #EuropeanPeatlandsInitiative & building a strong alliance for peatland climate protection.
I'm thankful to the team of @climacatalyst for the amazing organisation and facilitation. 💚

Further steps include:
· identifying both risks and the returns on investing in peatlands
· involving corporates in the creation of economic models in support of peatland restoration & sustainable use
· demonstrating that healthy peatlands are crucial for stability and resilience

Current policies often 'encourage' investment & action that result in peatland degradation. This needs to be stopped.
Key steps to turn around current trends could be:
· creating markets for payments for #EcosystemServices
· enabling the co-creation of new policy measures

I was fortunate to join a great and knowledgable team for the day and had thought-provoking discussions around the problem statement: "Policy does not currently incentivise corporate action or investment in peatlands".
My team had experts from Indonesia, D.R. Congo and the UK.

The workshop aimed to enable the private sector to:
· understand how it can assess if there is peatland degradation in the value chain 🕵
· identify investment opportunities in peatland restoration 💵
· achieve nature & climate goals through peatland conservation & restoration 🌍

Participated in an inspiring full-day innovation lab in London that brought together a diverse group of stakeholders to ideate on concrete solutions for unlocking private sector funding and action for #peatlands.

Excited to participate and represent @CEEwebEurope at #GSB2023 this week in Dublin: learning, networking and discussing the latest results of #SoilBiodiversity research from all around the world and finding ways to translate them to policy and action. 🐛🌱🌾🌍

Grasslands harbor a great diversity of species, with their deep root systems they are resilient carbon sinks, and provide plenty of ecosystem services.
It's time to value, protect and restore grasslands!...

Our panelists helped us understand the greater context of our project. Virginia @siwi_water mentioned collaboration of stakeholders as key in reducing non-revenue water, Salar @LTHinfo urged a shift from a fail-safe mindset to a safe-fail approach in urban planning for resilience

We started our research by gaining a better understanding of the challenges, risks, local and global factors that can have an impact on the water management and infrastructure of cities.

Today, we presented our findings and discussed flooding, scarcity and pollution in detail.

Our team of students @IIIEElund had a thought-provoking online roundtable today on digital solutions in urban water management.

🤔How they can protect this precious resource, improve efficiency of water infrastructure, reduce damages or even make consumers more conscious..

By integrating agricultural, climate and biodiversity policies along the vision of the #EUGreenDeal and the commitments of the #EUBiodiversityStrategy and the #FarmtoForkStrategy, the CAP could potentially deliver on the EU's climate ambition.
