This is the sword I forged for my wedding.

My in-laws made the sheathe, and the blacksmith teaching the swordsmithing class doing most of the detail work is the only reason it looks so good, but I'm still incredibly proud of it.

Just watched the first episode of the Gnosia anime. Have been really excited ever since it got announced, since I absolutely loved the video game. Basically Among Us / Werewolf / Mafia as a time loop drama.

Has gorgeous animation, and three canonically nonbinary characters, protagonist included!

Summer grinned. The fort was just ahead. A small, square, stout building made of wood. Grand and impressive. A place to hide away, be yourself. Something that would have been absolutely incredible to have as a child. “Here we are.” Theo gestured grandly, her voice tinged with nervous excitement. “My home away from home. Secret base, headquarters for all sorts of adventures and shenanigans.” As she approached, Summer saw that the door had a small padlock attached to it. “It’s locked.” “Yeah.” Theo clasped her hands behind her back, leaning close to Summer as she inspected it. “Think you can figure out the secret to get inside?” Summer blinked. “Uh, I guess?” She wasn’t really sure what Theo was trying to get at, but well. She was equipped. She fished her keys out of her pocket, found the lockpicking tool attached to the ring, then slid it into the padlock and jiggled it around until it popped open. Theo stared blankly. “That’s, uh. Hmm.” “What? Locks like this are painfully insecure.” “No, that’s fine, I just…” Theo sighed, then chuckled. “You find that thing useful pretty often?” Summer shrugged. “I wouldn’t say often. But it’s come in handy every once in awhile. Best part is using it to access the roof on my apartment building. Good place to hang out.” Theo’s eyes lit up. “Ooh! We should totally do that.” She grinned, then stepped forward and opened the door. There wasn’t much to it. A small, square room. A beanbag set up in the corner. Stacks of manga and books. An empty cooler. A storage box in the corner. The smell of dust and old wood.

“Alright, alright, this one’s going to do it, you’d better watch.” “Uh-huh.” Summer spared a glance for her coworker, Minha, who currently had a rubber band stretched between her fingers, a paper projectile carefully balanced on the makeshift slingshot. Minha squinted, her aim careful. She released, and the little paper triangle soared through the air, smacked right into the top of a pringles can, which clattered off the shelf onto the floor. “Yes! I am the champion!” She cheered. She held her hand out for a high five. Summer slapped it half heartedly, but she couldn’t keep the grin from her face. “You sure are. I’m not picking that back up though.” Minha stuck her tongue out, then went over to fix her mess. She was all of five nothing, cute as a button, athletic as hell, and dumb as a box of rocks. But she was probably one of Summer’s closest friends, and made working in this dead end job tolerable.

Not yet, anyway. But Theo wanted it to be. She could admit that much. Instead, Theo quietly climbed out of bed. She got dressed, crept out into the kitchen and closed the doo behind her. She scrunched up her face, put a rasp into her voice, and said “Heeeey ladies,” in the creepiest way she could manage. Riley laughed even harder, and elbowed Summer in the side. “Too real!” Summer grinned, and for a moment, it was just like old times. Riley was her friend again. All was right in the world. The moment passed. Riley looked away. Silence hung in the air, awkward once more.

She should just come clean, tell Summer the truth, take her to view the comet, and end this whole farce. But the simple fact was that she didn’t want to do that. She wasn’t ready to go home. So she’d lied. She’d put off going back to her own reality until the last day the comet would be visible, in a little under a month. And now she’d stay with Summer. Leech off of her generosity. Summer stood there, wrapped in a towel, her hair wet, looking muddy brown instead of its usually vibrant red, and with a hint of blonde at the roots. “Hey,” she said, with a casual, easy smile, full of warmth and understanding. “Just be a few more minutes. Minha’s not bothering you too much, is she?” Theo licked her lips, and she watched a droplet of water run down Summer’s neck, pool briefly in her clavicle before continuing down her breast, eventually hitting the towel and being absorbed. “Uh. Yep. Mmmhmm.” Minha snorted with laughter. “Not dating my ass.” Summer rolled her eyes. “Shut up,” she said, then made her way into the bedroom. Right. Nothing quite like horny brain to short circuit a panic attack. Theo took a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. Let herself accept the delusion, felt it wash over her. This would all be fine. She’d chase after what she wanted, whether it was a fluke, a dream, a miracle, her destiny. She’d enjoy every minute she could with Summer. It would destroy her, Icarus flying too close to the sun. But that would be a problem for future Theo to deal with.
