as far as I can tell it's the closest to an algorithm that bsky has. It's a mix of people you follow + people you don't, and it gets inserted periodically between posts in the main feed, like below. I follow Sarah (why top post is in feed) but I don't follow Brandon (bottom post is from What's Hot).

interesting wording on the new YouTube premium terms of service. I guess it's to prevent the use of a VPN... but now if you travel, you have to use a VPN located in your home country, I guess?

how in the hell do you go out of business as the university bookstore
The University of Auckland has been notified that UBIQ – the independently owned and operated bookstore on the City Campus – was put into liquidation on Wednesday. The bookstore is expected to remain open for the start of Semester Two until 31 August. Further details are not available at this point, but we will continue to keep our community updated. The University is working closely with the UBIQ liquidator with a view to minimising disruptions for staff and students.

Either they had a Hindi speaker verify the message (who could've just translated it? Rather than using Generative AI?), or they just blindly said "yeah this AI result is Hindi enough" and posted this.

Either way -- why is Generative AI necessary here?

Today's unexpected reason to need to rerun the modelling code: it wrote a bunch of null characters into a file (??) resulting in my analysis code proceeding to read garbage into memory and request 300GB (!!!) of RAM...
