We love the questions! Bigg's killer whales don't have any predators. It's thought the coloration is either from the thinner blubber layer of calves or because of a condition like jaundice in human newborns, where the liver isn't fully functioning yet at birth.

Yes, for the first 6 months to a year the calves tend to have a pinkish orange color instead of white!

The whales in this group ranged in age from 1-28 years old, including some teenagers!
