Can you not understand the message that Virginia voters just sent. It wasn't a desire for compromise, it was a plea for principled resistance to cruelty

It pisses me off that "the Virginia Way" is to jettison principles and priorities for compromise and pragmatism. Kaine (if he supports this) and Spanberger (for encouraging this) are disappointing, but not surprising, me

Does no one love Chuck? Surely they'd take his frail shriveled hand and lead him to a corner where he could babble into space without embarrassing himself and tarnishing whatever legacy he has left.

This is useful as a talking point but doesn't convey how bad this bill is. 6k means nothing to those at the top end. $560 will be felt for sure, but fails to capture the compounding costs and consequences on those at the bottom and on future Americans.
The malevolence of this exceeds simple metrics

Waiting for a thoughtful treatise on how Ukraine's success should inform our approach to defense planning/spending. Lesson one for me (far from expert) is that costly hardware is subject to new vulnerabilities but investment in smart and righteous allies pays off (and is righteous on our part).

Some scientists, in my experience; thrive within a collaborative, structured program .... some thrive when free from structure/direction. Takes all kinds, we need all kinds ... we're losing all kinds.

With this mis-info on USAID delivered in front of the Sec of State, and Trumps continued sucking up to Putin, early betting favorite for "most pathetic Trump sycophant" has to go Marco Rubio. Betrayed his family's history to sit in a chair while Elon plays god with his notional responsibilities.

And ... please, would the Media stop saying what DOGE/Trump are doing is "not normal" or "beyond norms". Their supporters have been radicalized against norms and normal. What DOGE/Trump are doing is WRONG, CRUEL, IMMORAL, ILLEGAL and UNPRINCIPLED.

USAID, NIH, support for Ukraine are the inspiring examples of whatever meaning there is to "American Exceptionalism". We should preach about those missions & the committment to the rule of law and democracy as our guiding principles. Stop acting as if people feel with their wallets not their hearts!

Tiffany Aching is my all-time favorite coming-of-age character in fiction. (And the series deserves a place of pride in the Discworld universe).
