Artist, avid reader, Pro Democracy, anti-MAGA radical, past my prime and don't GAF; labeled a subversive in HS - trying to stay true to it. Also, I torture people for a living.
Yeah, I’m happily watching a PBS Nature episode on woodpeckers. much more interesting and entertaining.

P.S. - I accidentally did that once. Submitted to my boss a typed brief where I put Plantiffs’ name instead of Plaintiff’s name. The whole mess was returned by the court, and I caught no end of grief for that very minor mistake, which delayed the Filing and thus the trial. Boss was not happy.

No, no, no. I was a legal sect’y for years. A “scrivener’s error” is more like transposing an apostrophe, not forgetting to file a relevant document. Had I done that, I doubt I’d have a job, and if my att’y forgot to include it, not would they. The utter careless disregard for the law is astounding.

“It’s a familiar saying that power corrupts. But in my experience, its corrosive effects are more wide-ranging. Power inevitably magnifies the weaknesses in a personality.” (Presumed Guilty by Scott Turow) Just seemed like an applicable quote to much of what we see today in politics.

It has a lot to do with monetization of the platform. you can’t do that (yet) on Bluesky, but all the others you can, so, incisive comments and posts drive the poster’s revenue stream. It’s really all about morally bankrupt grifters flooding the platforms with hate for self-enrichment.

So the woman who took years and three schools to get her BA in political science from SDU thinks she knows more about the law than the guy with a BA from Yale, MA from Oxford and JD from Yale? I can’t with these people.

61 yr old WW here to say “oh, no, please don’t send me back to London or Paris! How will I ever survive!” I’m also ”General Northern European”, so if they insist I go to Copenhagen, I guess I’ll just tough it out.

BS. A quick search in my area shows 125 EVs that have less than 30k miles, are only 2 yrs old and cost under $20k. I even saw a used 2025 Nissan Leaf for $16k. Not sure how much cheaper you’re wanting, but those prices beat most ICEcars.

I feel you. I got everything prepped and managed to cook a few things, but then retreated to the sanctity of the spare room as my first cold in years knocked me on my behind. The fam did great though.

Before I quit x, I did a little math. MAGA influencer whose account was less than two years old had something like 18,000 posts. Dived that by 24, thats 750 posts a month, or 25 posts a day, every day. No breaks, no holiday, every day. The only way that happens is if it‘s a full-time job.

It’s actually not that far fetched. NYS has a single payer plan thats been vetted and reworked for the last 30 years, but even with a dem super majority they’ve been too afraid to implement it. If he got trump to go along with that, which eliminates insurance co.s, that would be amazing.

A man collapsed in the Oval Office yesterday. The internet got the story wrong.

My experience struggling to correct the record — including on Bluesky! — and the warning signs as AI, aggregation, and social media increasingly drive our news consumption.

A case study in how bad information can spread — and how hard it is to correct it.
