a role that exists in Yinxin, that doesn't in Votann are Jidianqi: Jidianqi are usually Jinren, who are directly linked to the database of ancestor memories and genetics. The role of Jidianqi is channeling those records of ancestors through themself, to act as a medium for Yinxinren seeking guidance

This also applies to Yinxin's Ironkin, who require occasional memory wipes to keep their memory from overfilling. A Jinren who reaches enlightenment has summarized who they are and their view of the world, such that when they dump their memory, they can maintain a continuity of self identity

2) in canon Votann, psychics are like, all from specific clone templates who live 3x longer than other kin. Yinxin instead have psychics be somewhat random like everyone else, and being longer lived is something that happens from reaching a philosophical/religious enlightenment.

the most, thematically extreme changes of the yinxin are:
1) the prominence of non kin xenos as part of the "in group". canon votann do like, let xenos live in their territory, but i'm pushing that further to them being a proper part of the yinxin.

The funny side goal being if i field my funny oc army, the Cangqiong de Wangguo, and talk about their lore, I'd only have to change it *a lil* if I was talking to the most rigid Canon Votann lover.

I love that Votann treat Kin and Ironkin as equals, so Yinxin lean into the idea that like, anything one can do, the other could do to? Have some Ironkin who are in top leadership positions.

I was really interested in how Votann do ancestor worship, but then I read up on them and only one group of Votann actually like, do anything religious? So the Yinxin are more focused on religious practice.

The biggest Yinxin changes are like: Graveyard of Empires is less inherently grimdark, so I'm less interested in the idea that the supertech civilization can't maintain their super AI rulers. Like the whole point of the AI in canon is that they can enhance themselves????

Both in general, and about my rework of the Votann, the Yinxin. The Yinxin have a lot of little nudges in their lore; like I like a lot of ideas that are going into the Votann, so my goal is that the Yinxin keep those things? The driving goal of it all is making them something other than Norse.
