I felt the same way about totk. After giving it some thought, I realized that I really disliked totk's story and the smaller problems like how finicky vehicle building was, how you can trivialize almost anything with a hoverbike, etc that it made me appreciate botw more

The only occasion where a remake surpassed the original for me is Resident Evil 1 Remake. Sure you miss the more campy tone of og, but they added soo much to gameplay and maintained the spirit of og which is something I can't say about RE2R despite enjoying it (4R was really close and 3R, well...)
