Politicians use leadership PACs to gain clout and boost bids for leadership posts or chairmanships. This involves giving to members, the party, PACs, super PACs. In 2024, leadership PACs gave $79.3M to federal candidates, mostly to Republicans, but a Democrat topped the charts.

3/4 Over the past five cycles, NFT gave $389,500 to PACs and committees, with 65 percent of donations to GOP committees and the remainder to Democratic committees. A majority of the contributions were made to leadership PACs in the top turkey-producing states: MN, NC, AR, IN, MO, VA, IA, PA.

2/4 NTF has funneled $2.4M to federal candidates over the last 10 cycles through its political action committee, the National Turkey Federation PAC. On average, 33% of donations went to Democrats, 67% to Republicans. Its donations to candidates have increased 238% since 2006.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R) and former Sen. Doug Jones (D) have both announced they are running for governor of Alabama, setting up a rematch of their 2020 race. That year, Tuberville easily defeated Jones even though the Democrat spent about 4x on the race.

Ballard’s income mushroomed to $20 million during Q2 of 2025, an increase of $6.1 million over the previous period. If Ballard keep up that pace, it could break the record for annual earnings ($67.8 million, set last year by Brownstein, Hyatt).
