So far in 2025, OMF researchers have published 15 peer-reviewed papers, from computational analysis of patient-reported treatment outcomes, to molecular basis for precision medicine approaches, to the development of new potential diagnostic tools & more.

The lack of an objective diagnostic tool for #MECFS is a problem for healthcare providers and a burden to patients. OMF’s BioQuest project aims to identify a unique #biomarker signature for ME/CFS that can be easily sampled in a primary care setting.

OMF's CRC at Montreal published a review paper on ME/CFS #genetics and #epigenetics. It provides an overview of the role of DNA in how likely someone is to develop ME/CFS (susceptibility) and in how #MECFS affects the body's function (pathophysiology).

In #MECFS, there’s evidence that microglia are activated more often than in healthy people, which contributes to #neuroinflammation. OMF’s CRC at Uppsala is analyzing microglia activity via MRI as a way of detecting neuroinflammation.
