Why not observe a hearing in the Court of Protection and learn more about the challenges faced by judges, lawyers, families and P when decision-making capacity is deemed lost. We tell you how to find a hearing, how to log on and what to expect. And we have a "buddy" system if you want support.

No list provided for hearings today in Court of Protection at First Avenue House.

There aren't any in Courtel/CourtServe either.

Perhaps no hearings are taking place?

Or perhaps they are happening in secret?

Hello @hmctsgovuk.bsky.social Port Talbot.

We checked the transparency order and the judge has not prohibited naming this public body. It should be on the list!

Gwnaethom wirio'r gorchymyn tryloywder ac nid yw'r barnwr wedi gwahardd enwi'r corff cyhoeddus hwn. Dylai fod ar y rhestr!

This transparency order made by DJ Drayson in Birmingham on 20 December 2024 says we can be found in contempt of court and sent to prison if we name the local authority in this deprivation of liberty case. It's probably a mistake. But we'll have to fill in a COP 9 to get it changed...😦

Hello @hmctsgovuk.bsky.social
in Exeter.

Please remember to include the names of public bodies (like Devon County Council) in the Courtel/CourtServe lists. It's important for transparency!

Oh no! Another of HHJ Robershaw's Transparency Orders. I was sent the Order with a file name which is P's surname. And P's full name is on the face of the Order. This poses an unnecessary risk to P's Article 8 privacy rights. Please don't do this.

Hello @HMCTS staff in Brighton

Please remember to include the names of applicant/respondent bodies in your public lists.

Transparency demands it!

Hello @HMCTSgovuk in Hull.
Please can you make sure that the names of applicant/respondent public bodies (like East Riding of Yorkshire Council) are included in court listings. It's important for transparency to know what public bodies (funded by our taxes) are up to! Thank you

Hello @hmctsgovuk.bsky.social in Sheffield. Please can you ensure, in the interests of transparency, that the names of applicant/respondent public bodies are on the court listings - unless the judge has specifically ordered that they should be kept secret of course. #OpenJustice

The listing for this remote hearing includes the name of the public bodies involved.

This is a really great step toward greater transparency in the Court of Protection lists. Hopefully other courts will do the same soon
