My feelings exactly. So many unfair deaths meant I spent longer than my clear time.
And visually it's just so ugly. I was tired of the locations after 2 hours.

On that note, I absolutely hate the map layout and enemy/battle design. Probably more than Revelations 1.
And yeah, current Capcom knocks most things out of the park (though I was really lukewarm on RE4make), so I'm hopeful.
