I'm looking for natural-feeling ways to expand the vocabulary here. One avenue that seems helpful will be extended physical techniques, but I'm also looking into more ways of live processing in Max (and M4L).

Rout it for Gibson humbuckers, and you have Fred "Sonic" Smith's main guitar.

I got to hear them perform this...in the late Karl Hendricks's house. *Heavy.*

Looks like I'm wrong about the siphon price point. The siphon I use (the Yama 8-cup) is now weighing in at $70-ish. Still *way* cheaper than any sturdy espresso maker.
Pourovers are still wonderfully low-tech.

I cycle between stovetop siphon and pourover, which both can make fine coffee at price points of less than $50, and don't have to hold up against espresso extraction pressures.

No problem! I'll have the recording out tomorrow, most likely.

Time zones are *hard*. Seriously difficult from a programming perspective.

Phill Brown's book has two chapters on Talk Talk, and apparently the choir was recorded at Wessex studio...to replace an adult choir that sounded "too perfect" to Mark Hollis, so that got erased and replaced with the children's choir.

It *is* beautiful! I don't hear those as samples from other records, though--it's totally plausible that they just played the parts. (What do I know about how it was all produced, though?)

Still feeling a #microtonal vibe here. Monday's thing should be out tonight, and (assuming the recording goes as usual) tonight's thing should be out in a day or two.

Thank you! I’m not familiar with those, so I’ll check them out! (Someone else suggested a Hayden Pedigo comparison, which also had me looking up HP’s engaging work.)

Has anyone along the pipeline there considered the rate at which the hardware will fail under these conditions, and the cost of replacement? Or is this, as I suspect, simply “space computer better”?
