Proud husband. Dad of 4 amazing kids. Mets fan for life. Jersey born and bred. 55 years of watching this team break my heart and I still show up. I call it straight. No nonsense, no hype merchants, no fantasy trades. Just baseball and real opinions.
Elster came out of retirement for Davey Johnson & the Dodgers. Giants opening their new stadium, and Kev hits 3 HRs! Ruined their party wearing Dodger Blue. Weird to see him in LA colors, but watching an '86 player destroy San Francisco? Priceless.

If it worked that way, half the Hall of Fame would be spotless by now. lol

Cone was a straight-up menace on the mound though. If you crowded the plate, you were wearing one. Whole league knew it.

Sorry but I had to laugh at this. Paula, I warned you at least a thousand times the ‘84-‘89 Mets had a lot of psychos playing for them. These stories should not surprise you.

I remember the '88-‘89 seasons like it was yesterday. Elster was just automatic at shortstop—88 games without an error was incredible to watch. That whole infield with him and Keith was something special. Hard to believe that was almost 40 years ago!

Good question. Truth is the Mets got a future manager — Gil Hodges — not a player. The deal that sent Denehy away helped build the 1969 champs.

Excellent article, really well said, Charley. You laid out the full picture the right way. Not just the numbers, but the leadership, the respect around the game, and the work he’s done off the field. That’s exactly why Wright meant more than just stats to this franchise.

Game 3 of the 2015 World Series. First World Series game at Citi Field and Wright hits that two-run homer in the first inning. Place was shaking. That was his moment.

Let’s be honest, she’s got way more ammo on me than I’ve got on her. I’m the one walking into the danger zone here. I’m just hoping she shows mercy.

Thanks. She’s been telling me to get on here and post for a while. Guess she finally wore me down.

He’s pulling a Craig Carton here. Big, loud ‘signing today’ radio tease with nothing behind it. Until there’s an actual team announcement, it’s just WFAN noise.

Not due to bad season but I had an RC cola can never opened from the "86 World Series. When my wife and I started dating in '93 she accidentally knocked if off the shelf and the can exploded the 7 year old soda everywhere. She thought I was gonna be mad at her after that but I just laughed.

Trading Baty right now while his value is still developing would be Mets panic behavior. Not happening without overpaying like idiots. Let him grow more and visit the trade options then.

You didn't scare anyone and stop putting Hall of Famers in the ‘random’ bin like loose screws.” BTW your helping with the tree later.

He’s off to a slow start. Look at David Wright in ’05 — .266 avg, 2 HR, 10 RBI in April. He ended up hitting .306 with 27 bombs and over 100 RBI. Fans just need to give him a chance to settle in. Not everyone comes out of the gate on fire.

That was smart. Distracting them enough to get the run home

Thank you! I spent a lot of time on that other site, but the last few years it really started to disgust me. This place feels much better. Hoping to find some good Mets fans to talk ball with.
