After reading HCR's newsletter today, all I can think is the Roberts's SCOTUS has enabled everything that's happened since 1/20/2025. Trump knows he's above the law, no matter what our "leaders" repeatedly lament ineffectually. Ending with John Adams's stmt to Abigail is an appropriate ending.

Hey @nytimes.com, did you change your headline, and change "Islamophobic attacks" on Mamdani to just "attacks," because Elise Stefanik and the GOP bullied you into it? Really? Why are they no longer Islamophobic attacks, as your headline originally and correctly stated?

Look at what @ox.ac.uk chooses to exclude from its investment portfolio AND what it apparently willfully continues to profit from: "an illegal occupation that has been linked to egregious human rights abuses, including genocide". Why aren't Oxford's investments mission-aligned?

Nothing can rehabilitate Assad’s image, thanks to this deep dive into Butcher of Damascus's bureaucratic death machine. He murdered/disappeared >160,000 Syrians.

This is nothing but Oslo #2: occupation dressed up in managerial language. Every inch of Palestine remains under Israeli military control: labels have changed, structure did not. Mohammed R. Mhawish calls for restoration of Gaza’s political life. Essential reading to understand the current moment.

Given Labour's ongoing scandals, I agree with @richardburgon.bsky.social.
As Trump demolishes freedom of speech, setting examples globally, it's important to "uphold the right of journalists to do their job – scrutinising governments and holding power to account."

Sadly Hannah Arendt's phrase lives on: the banality of evil.

Good point, @declassifieduk.org. The only problem there is much of the world seems to be mimicking the malignant narcissism of one very powerful man. So, anything goes these days.
