I’m trying to decide if this is my problem or not?

I assume it happened in the storm yesterday, but I am kind of thinking of just leaving it there till the rental inspection on the 13th of December.

Proof of concept seems to prove the concept, so I will pick a cool day next week and finish all the insulation and plywood work.

I think you are looking at the interior frame and not the external existing frame, with fully supported oversized headers. I have narrowed the original window openings while still leaving the hardwood laminated headers in place. The trusses land on hardwood blocks in the outer wall.

I have cut, notched, and numbered every top plate extension.

Now they all need to come out again so I can insulate behind with one layer of foam and one of fibre.

I have lugged it inside and it looks even more like an elephant now.

Obviously this is not the house for it, maybe the right rug or timber floor is required?

Either way I couldn’t say no because it will sell easily if I can’t make it work.

Today may have been a complete cluster cuddle work wise, but I managed to stare at a problem long enough to cower it into total submission.

Imagine if all of these gaps were exactly the same size. You could just make a template, cut 36 of them, install them all at once.

As opposed to climb the ladder, measure, climb down, cut, climb ladder, install, climb down. 36x…

Some timber, the last 3 sheets of foil board, and 15 sheets of 1/2” ply unloaded just before the storm caught up with me.

I am now dead and there is still no power for a coffee…

Ziggy is fine now, string had gotten knotted between his toes and had tightened up, vet cut it off before it caused any damage. However I am now in the bad books for stuffing him in a cage and driving him to the vet.

So I have come out to the farm to let him calm down.
